This is it? The conclusion of the Lead2Feed lessons? Thankfully, the change is never over!
- Think back to how your students viewed themselves and others at the beginning of the lessons.
- Think about the ups and downs and challenges they encountered this year.
Take a moment right now to reflect on the growth of your students: their ability to communicate, problem-solve, work together, and realize they can achieve anything when they work together.
As an educator, you constantly witness areas of student growth, aim for more, and appreciate the chance or opportunity for a “redo”. Afterall, a redo allows for growth and change. Unfortunately, not everything has a redo opportunity, so it is important to realize one needs to have a vision, make a plan, and discuss those plans with others.
Watch teacher Debby Harris (Houston, TX) describe the ‘Aha! Moment’ when her students look back to see all they have accomplished from Lesson 1 to Lesson 10.
Learning is about growth.
Discuss with your students how the project outcome may or may not parallel the vision developed in prior lessons. Students may have experienced unexpected twists and turns. Activities 2 and 3 aim to teach students that real success comes from recognizing that there is always more to know and more to do.
Maryland High School English/Language Arts Teacher, Mrs. Siri Llamas, states:
“My students have learned from Lesson 10 that they should be concerned and work not only towards benefiting their futures—but that they also have a duty to be concerned and work towards benefiting the futures of others. As a teacher and Special Educator, I am eternally grateful to Lead2Feed for continuing to provide my students with this opportunity and for continuing to teach them these important life lessons!”
Your students have the abilities to be a changemaker: the ripple in the bucket of water will increase its boundaries which is similar to students “taking people with them”.
Celebrate how these lessons may have impacted their lives. This one ripple is all they may have needed! Thank you for dedicating your passion to teaching others and allowing a safe-space for your students to practice the lifelong skills developed within each lesson.
